DSTA PARTNERS WITH AST SPACEMOBILE

 Singapore’s Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) will collaborate with the U.S.’ AST SpaceMobile, to harness the space-based cellular broadband network for enhancing connectivity during humanitarian assistance, disaster relief and emergency response situations, offering improved situational awareness and response in remote areas. AST SpaceMobile is building the first and only space-based cellular broadband network that is accessible directly by everyday smartphones, to meet both commercial and government needs.

“Communications has always been vital in operations, particularly in times of crisis. Seamless and resilient connectivity is critical for coordinating efforts and timely and accurate incident responses. This collaboration with AST SpaceMobile will move the needle for Singapore’s connectivity capabilities, and we’re excited for the prospects the partnership holds,” said DSTA’s Director Advanced Systems, Ms Ng Hwee Ping.
