Embraer announced that will provide training solutions for the C-390 Millenium to the Royal Netherlands Air Force. The agreement includes a Full Flight Simulator and a Cargo Handling Station Trainer developed with Rheinmetall, and also a Computer Based Trainer developed with ETI. Companies expect all solutions to be operational by the end of 2026.
“The new training devices offered to the Royal Netherlands Air Force are a significant milestone on our long-term relationship. Working in partnership with Rheinmetall and ETI, Embraer is focused on providing the best-in-class training solutions required by our customers. We have tailored these solutions aiming on every detail needed by the Royal Netherlands Air Force, and we are looking forward to deepening our relationship even more in the coming years” said Carlos Naufel, President and CEO of Embraer Services & Support.
“The C-390 training devices will enable the Royal Netherlands Air Force to prepare and train their missions in a most realistic environment. We are committed, together with our partner Embraer, to provide the best training systems and services for C-390 for the years to come,” adds Stefan Klaes, Rheinmetall’s Head of Sales, Aviation Systems.
The C-390 flight simulator, Level-D qualifiable, includes operation under normal and emergency conditions, also supporting military operations, and more than 350 malfunctions for training purposes. In addition, the simulator is easy to maintain and comfortable for training pilots.
Also, the Cargo Handling Station Trainer (CHST) will provide comprehensive training in the loadmaster function procedures for flight crews, loadmasters (LMs) and other users. It will make use of state-of-the-art visual representation technology to provide an interior view of the cargo hold and an exterior view of the entire aircraft.
Finally, the Computer Based Trainer (CBT) provides theoretical instruction of the aircraft for pilots, loadmasters, additional crew members and maintenance personnel through a Learning Management System compatible with SCORM technology.
With a maximum payload of 26 tonnes, a top speed of 470 knots, and state-of-the-art technology, the C-390 is the leading aircraft in its class. Its powerful engines, large cargo hold with a rear ramp, and robust landing gear allow it to handle the most demanding missions, including operations from unpaved runways. A true strategic asset for its end users, the C-390 Millennium can perform a wide range of military and civilian missions such as the transport of freight, personnel and vehicles for peacekeeping operations, special operations, humanitarian support, medical evacuation, search and rescue, maritime surveillance, firefighting, air to air refuelling, and disaster management.
The current fleet of C-390 aircraft in service around the world has accumulated more than 15,000 flight hours, with a mission capability rate of 93% and mission completion rates exceeding 99%, demonstrating exceptional reliability in its category. Along with the Netherlands, the C-390 has been selected by the Czech Republic, Hungary and Portugal, as well as Austria, Brazil, and South Korea.
