Aiming to Modernise Military Logistics and Strengthen European Production
French military vehicle manufacturer Arquus and German commercial vehicle giant Daimler Truck have announced a new strategic partnership to jointly develop, produce, and service military wheeled vehicles. The collaboration aims to deliver tailored solutions for modern defence needs, with a focus on logistics fleet modernisation for the French Army.
Joint Innovation in Military Vehicle Development
This project-based cooperation will go beyond the companies’ business activities. Arquus and Daimler Truck plan to combine their engineering, production, and service expertise to:
-
Develop customised vehicle platforms
-
Optimise production and supply chains
-
Enhance after-sales support across both France and Germany
“This partnership will take us forward together. Both companies know the needs of armed forces inside out and will benefit from each other’s many years of experience,” said Emmanuel Levacher, CEO of Arquus. “This will positively impact joint vehicle development, production synergies, and service for our customers.”
Aligned Goals for Defence Readiness
The two companies aim to leverage their shared values and long histories in the European defence and automotive sectors. Their cooperation underscores a broader Franco-German commitment to defence readiness and technological sovereignty.
“I am delighted about the partnership with Arquus, a company with deep experience in military vehicles,” said Daniel Zittel, Head of Defence Sales at Daimler Truck.
“Our companies have long produced in both France and Germany, our products are compatible, and our goals in the defence sector align closely. Together, we aim to contribute decisively to the defence readiness of both nations.”
Strong Local Production Footprint in France and Germany
Both companies will retain their defence manufacturing capabilities in their respective home countries:
-
Arquus will continue producing military vehicles at its French sites in Garchizy and Limoges.
-
Daimler Truck will maintain operations in Wörth am Rhein (Germany) and Molsheim (Alsace, France).
The Molsheim plant is part of Daimler Truck’s broader industrial base in France, which employs more than 3,000 people.
The partnership also aims to strengthen these regional production hubs and enhance cross-border cooperation in the European defence supply chain.
Driving Defence Innovation in Europe
This Franco-German alliance is a forward-looking step in reshaping how European defence manufacturers collaborate to deliver next-generation military mobility. By aligning expertise and industrial strength, Arquus and Daimler Truck are setting the stage for a more resilient and modern European defence capability.
