Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KONGSBERG) has secured a full-rate production contract valued at up to USD 330 million from the United States Marine Corps for the 30mm remote turret used in the Amphibious Combat Vehicle 30mm (ACV-30) program.

The initial order, issued by the Program Executive Office (PEO) Land Systems Program Manager Advanced Amphibious Assault (PM AAA), includes a substantial quantity of turrets to be produced at KONGSBERG’s dedicated remote weapon system facility in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Recent expansions at the facility have created more jobs and established a dedicated medium calibre turret production line.

Eirik Lie, President of Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, commented:

“KONGSBERG is honoured to support the US Marine Corps by equipping them with increased firepower and capacity. The ACV-30 offers superior performance compared to current comparable systems, and we see positive market potential for our medium calibre turrets both in the US and internationally.”

The ACV-30 is one of four variants in BAE Systems’ next-generation ACV family of vehicles. It features KONGSBERG’s stabilised, remotely operated MCT-30 turret, designed to provide superior capabilities and protection for Marines. The turret is vehicle-agnostic, capable of integrating armour and a range of effectors, including anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM).

All remote weapon stations (RWS) and turrets delivered to U.S. customers are manufactured in KONGSBERG’s Johnstown facility, which leverages an extensive American supply chain. Since opening in 2008, the facility has produced over 20,000 remote weapon stations and turrets, including systems like the Marine Air Defence Integrated System (MADIS) and the Commonly Remotely Operated Weapon Station (CROWS) for the US Army.

This contract follows a previous purchase of long-lead items in late 2024 worth USD 51 million, ensuring uninterrupted production and delivery schedules for the Marine Corps’ ACV-30 program. The current order is valued at approximately USD 118 million, with options for additional systems. Initial deliveries are expected soon.
