SingaporeMulti-year agreement covers cutting-edge infrared solutions for armoured vehicles

SCD, a global leader in defence infrared technology, has announced contracts worth over USD 40 million in Asia to supply an extensive portfolio of advanced cooled MWIR (Medium-Wave Infrared) and LWIR (Long-Wave Infrared) detectors. These detectors will be deployed across a wide range of armoured fighting vehicle applications, including gunner sights, commander sights, and remote weapon stations, as part of a major multi-phase modernisation programme for armoured fleets in the region.

SCD’s MWIR and LWIR detectors are engineered to deliver a decisive operational advantage to armoured vehicle crews, enabling 24/7 all-weather detection, identification, and target classification—even in the most challenging battlefield conditions. This performance is powered by SCD’s advanced digital Read-Out Integrated Circuit (ROIC) technology and proprietary Type-II Superlattice (T2SL) technology, offering superior sensitivity and an exceptional signal-to-noise ratio in the long-wave infrared spectrum. These capabilities are critical for extended-range target acquisition and enhanced situational awareness, enabling operators to distinguish between objects and threats at long distances and in degraded visibility environments.

Designed with system integrators in mind, SCD’s digital ROIC detectors offer a flexible, modular architecture that simplifies integration into both modern and legacy platforms. The result is high-resolution infrared imaging, exceptional reliability, and improved survivability for ground forces operating in dynamic combat scenarios.

The three-year contract further strengthens SCD’s long-standing partnerships with leading Asian defence OEMs. It underscores the company’s proven ability to deliver scalable, field-ready infrared solutions for large-scale modernisation initiatives.

“This is a significant milestone for SCD, further demonstrating the growing demand for our advanced infrared solutions across the SWIR, MWIR, and LWIR spectrums,” said Shai Fishbein, VP of Business Development & Marketing at SCD. “This contract highlights the technological maturity and operational performance of our detector families—particularly our proprietary T2SL-based cooled LWIR detectors, which provide critical advantages in target recognition, even under the most challenging conditions. We are proud to support our Asian defence partners in enhancing their armoured capabilities.”
