Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KONGSBERG) has signed a contract with the Government of Denmark for the delivery of the National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System (NASAMS) air defence solution. Valued at EUR 500 million, the contract will equip Denmark with one of the world’s most modern and advanced air defence capabilities.
The acquisition will significantly enhance Denmark’s ability to counter modern and evolving air threats, while also strengthening the overall NASAMS air defence presence across the Nordic region.

Advanced, Modular Air Defence Capability
The NASAMS system integrates Raytheon radar technology and advanced missile variants with KONGSBERG’s Fire Distribution Centre (FDC) and multi-missile launchers. The system is designed to operate with a mix of missile types, including:

AIM-9X Sidewinder, providing both long- and short-range engagement capability

Future-Proof Architecture
NASAMS is built on a modular, open architecture, enabling the continuous integration of new technologies throughout its service life. This ensures adaptability against emerging threats and supports a broad range of missions, including potential growth into long-range air defence and anti-tactical ballistic missile roles within the NASAMS architecture.
With this procurement, Denmark becomes the 14th NASAMS user nation worldwide and the 8th within NATO, further reinforcing alliance interoperability and regional security.
