LF24-728x90-WEB-240202-01Hanwha Aerospace celebrated a significant accomplishment: the rollout of its 10,000th military engine. This event, celebrated by a ceremony at the Changwon Plant, marks 45 years of growth and innovation since the production of the company’s first J79 Turbojet engine for the F-4 Phantom II in 1978.

General Lee Young-soo, Chief of Staff of the Republic of Korea Air Force, Minister Seok Jong-gun of Defense Acquisition Program Administration, and Park Jong-seung, President of the Agency for Defense Development, attended the event. Minister of National Defense Shin Won-shik congratulated the company on its contribution to the country’s aero engine manufacturing capabilities, as well as its role in strengthening the nation’s defense capabilities.

This achievement coincided with the groundbreaking of a new engine production facility, equipped with smart technologies for IT-based quality management and logistics systems. Hanwha Aerospace is expanding its commitment to indigenous development by aiming to produce a homegrown turbojet engine by the mid-2030s, which can power the KF-21 Block III variant and unmanned fighter aircraft. Furthermore, the company will continue to develop core technologies for a 6th-generation jet fighter, such as the Embedded Electric Starter Generator (E2SG), and ceramic matrix composite materials.

A top-tier partner for the world’s three major aircraft engine companies _ General Electric, Pratt & Whitney, and Rolls-Royce, Hanwha Aerospace has gained an excellent reputation in the international aerospace market for its highest level of production and consistent delivery of sophisticated engine parts.
