Poland–Korea joint venture to localize CGR-080 rockets for HOMAR-K, driving sovereign missile manufacturing, technology transfer, and export potential.
Strategic Defence Partnership Announced at MSPO 2025
Hanwha Aerospace and WB Group have signed a landmark agreement to establish a Polish–Korean joint venture for the local production of CGR-080 guided missiles (range ~80 km) for the HOMAR-K multiple launch rocket system used by the Polish Armed Forces.
The deal was signed on the opening day of the International Defence Industry Exhibition (MSPO 2025) in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, Władysław Marcin Kosiniak-Kamysz, alongside senior industry leaders.
Local Production and Technology Transfer
The joint venture will implement a phased technology transfer programme, supported by a certified quality management system and structured workforce training. Initial serial production is expected to ramp up before the end of 2028, strengthening Poland’s in-country defence supply chain.
The new missile plant will employ approximately 250 highly skilled workers in Poland and will also serve as a launchpad for developing new rocket types aligned with future Polish and allied defence requirements, in compliance with both Polish procurement rules and Republic of Korea export regulations.
Statements from Leaders
Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz hailed the agreement as a turning point:
“We are gaining the capability to produce missiles for the HOMAR-K launcher. It’s a milestone. We are becoming increasingly self-reliant in defence manufacturing. We’re not only buying weapons – we’re bringing their production to Poland.”
Piotr Wojciechowski, President of WB Group, added:
“This missile plant is a significant, first-of-its-kind investment in Poland. It will enhance national security by ensuring domestic production of critical munitions and enable further development of the CGR-080 system and future guided rockets.”
Mr. Jaeil Son, President and CEO of Hanwha Aerospace, emphasised the long-term partnership:
“This joint venture will localize CGR-080 manufacturing, transfer critical know-how, and co-develop next-generation munitions with our Polish partners. It is a commitment of investment, people, and technology in Poland, for a safer Europe.”
Strengthening Poland’s Defence and Export Potential
The agreement marks a major milestone in Poland’s path to sovereign missile production and positions the country as a potential export hub for European defence markets. By localising advanced munitions production, Poland will boost national security, create jobs, and secure resilience in its supply chain.
