Embraer has officially delivered the second C-390 Millennium multi-mission aircraft to the Hungarian Air Force. The handover ceremony took place at Kecskemét Air Base and was attended by Hungary’s Minister of Defence, Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky, along with senior Hungarian authorities and Embraer executives.

Since entering service in late 2024, Hungary’s first C-390 has completed a wide variety of missions with a completion rate above 99%. With the delivery of the second aircraft, Hungary becomes the first operator worldwide to receive all contracted C-390 aircraft and the second NATO country to operate the platform.

“This is a truly uplifting and joyful moment, an incredibly important event in the development of the Hungarian Air Force. The Hungarian people have become richer and stronger as a result. This type of transport capability was lacking in our arsenal, but now it is available. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this process,” said Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky.

Embraer Highlights Operational Benefits

Bosco da Costa Junior, President and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security, stated, “This is a significant milestone for Embraer as we deliver the second C-390 Millennium to the Hungarian Air Force. The aircraft will enhance Hungary’s capabilities with superior operational performance, increased flexibility, and reduced life-cycle costs. We look forward to expanding our partnership to support the Hungarian Air Force’s current and future operational needs.”

Multi-Mission Capabilities of the C-390 Millennium

The next-generation C-390 Millennium is designed for both military and civilian operations. Its versatile missions include:

  • Medical evacuation and humanitarian support

  • Search and rescue operations

  • Cargo and troop transport

  • Precision cargo airdrops

  • Paratrooper operations

  • Air-to-air refuelling

Notably, Hungary’s C-390s are the first in the world to feature a modular roll-on/roll-off medical Intensive Care Unit (ICU), further enhancing the country’s strategic airlift and medical response capabilities.
