The Singapore Army conducted a large-scale mobilisation exercise (MOBEX) today, testing the operational readiness of over 2,000 Operationally Ready National Servicemen (NSmen) from the 23rd Singapore Infantry Brigade (23 SIB).

Minister for Defence Mr Chan Chun Sing visited Selarang Camp to observe the exercise, which included personal equipment inspections and refresher training in soldiering fundamentals such as weapons handling and combat medical aid.
The exercise also showcased advancements in the Army’s mobilisation systems. This includes the introduction of 3rd Generation Mobilisation Equipping Centres (MECs), equipped with humidity-controlled storage to ensure equipment remains in optimal condition. The digital OneNS platform was also highlighted, allowing real-time monitoring of mobilisation status and streamlining NSmen in-processing.

During his visit, Mr Chan engaged with troops from HQ 23 SIB, 780th and 749th Battalions of the Singapore Infantry Regiment, and the 115th Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence Battalion (115 C4I Bn).
Speaking on the importance of readiness, Mr Chan stated,
“The most critical component is the fighting spirit of our men. To see the men prepared to maintain their fitness and operational currency – that is our greatest deterrence.”
