Saab Secures Gripen E/F Fighter Aircraft Order for Thailand

Saab has signed a contract with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) to supply four Gripen E/F fighter aircraft to the Kingdom of Thailand, valued at approximately SEK 5.3 billion. Deliveries will take place between 2025 and 2030.

The agreement covers three Gripen E and one Gripen F aircraft, along with associated equipment, support, and training. Saab has also reached a parallel agreement with the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) for a long-term offset programme. This package will deliver significant defence technology transfer, industrial cooperation, and new investments in Thailand’s economy.

The RTAF currently operates one squadron of Gripen C/D fighters. The new Gripen E/F aircraft will integrate seamlessly into the existing fleet, strengthening Thailand’s operational capabilities and reinforcing its role as a key Saab partner in the Asia-Pacific region.
