thyssenkrupp Marine Systems: from platform to systems provider

thyssenkrupp Marine Systems has taken a major step in its development. By now closing
the acquisition of ATLAS ELEKTRONIK by thyssenkrupp, thyssenkrupp Marine Systems
transforms into an integrated systems provider. The two companies will combine their
strengths and offer their customers the full range of solutions from a single source.

Dr. Peter Feldhaus, CEO of thyssenkrupp Marine Systems: “The global market environment
is getting more and more complex and the requirements for integrated security concepts
are rising. That’s why we are repositioning thyssenkrupp Marine Systems as an integrated
systems provider to give us strategic advantages in the global market for submarines and
naval surface vessels.”

The vast experience of thyssenkrupp Marine Systems in building over 160 submarines and
130 surface vessels, in combination with the know-how of over 110 years of ATLAS
ELEKTRONIK in electronical systems, forms the basis for further technological standards. In
addition, the recently announced cooperation between thyssenkrupp Marine Systems,
ATLAS ELEKTRONIK and KONGSBERG in Norway lays the foundations for broader
collaboration within Europe and all NATO countries. It will deliver solutions for increasingly
complex customer requirements and thus security concepts for the future.

Dr. Rolf Wirtz, CEO of ATLAS ELEKTRONIK: “The tie-up means we are ideally placed to
supply customers with even better, tailored and above all highly cost-efficient products in
the future. We are sending out a strong message in the battle for key markets and
expanding our presence in foreign markets.”
